When is the right time to start SkinPen in Douglasville?
SkinPen can be done all year long. Skin is more sensitive to the sun while it heals, so daily sunscreen stays part of the plan. Most treatment plans are a series spaced several weeks apart.
Can I have SkinPen with a tan or a sunburn?
Not with a sunburn. Your skin needs to be fully healed first, and we will gladly move your appointment. If you still have a deep tan, Nurse Bambi and her qualified medical staff will look at your skin during your consultation and decide on timing with you.
Who should wait or skip SkinPen?
SkinPen is not right for everyone. Let us know at your consultation if you are pregnant, have an active breakout, cold sore, or skin infection in the treatment area, have a history of keloid scarring, have recently taken isotretinoin, or have eczema or psoriasis flaring in the area. Please also share any medications you take, including blood thinners, so Nurse Bambi and her qualified medical staff can review your full history before treatment.
What does a SkinPen visit feel like?
SkinPen at Infinity Med Spa GA is performed by Nurse Bambi Plumlee herself and by our qualified licensed estheticians. We apply a numbing cream first, and most patients say the treatment stays comfortable once it takes effect. The microneedling itself usually takes about 30 minutes. Afterward your skin will look pink, similar to a mild sunburn, usually for a day or two, and most people return to their routine the same day. We also offer masks and skin care that further helps with calming initial redness and swelling post the treatment.
What pairs well with SkinPen?
Some patients add dermaplaning, offered with our facials for an extra smooth finish. Others pair it with PRX DermPerfexion, a non-peeling treatment with no downtime. Combining PRX with SkinPen does extend the healing time a bit. For sun-related discoloration, a VI Peel may fit better, and that one is a true peel where the skin visibly sheds for several days. We usually do not suggest a VI Peel on the same day as SkinPen.
Nurse Bambi likes to stack these type of treatments and wait at least 4-6 weeks after the treatment to do a VI Peel.
How do I protect my results?
Wear a broad spectrum sunscreen with a sun protection factor of 30 or higher every day, even on cloudy mornings. Avoid direct sun and heavy sweating for several days after each session, use gentle skincare while you heal, and follow the aftercare instructions we send home with you. We will certainly make sure that you know exactly which products are acceptable post treatment.
