Your First Injectable Appointment in Douglasville, Georgia
A first injectable appointment in Georgia begins with a Good Faith Exam, a short medical evaluation required by state law before treatment. At Infinity Med Spa GA in Douglasville, the visit includes a facial assessment, a discussion of dosing, and the injections themselves, typically running 45 to 60 minutes. Neuromodulator results appear over 3 to 14 days.
Nearly everyone who books their first injectable appointment arrives with the same fear, even if they do not say it out loud. They are afraid of walking out looking like someone else.
That fear is reasonable, and it is worth taking seriously. Here is how a first appointment actually works in our Douglasville office, what Georgia requires before anyone touches you, and how dosing decisions get made.
Georgia requires a Good Faith Exam first
Before any medical aesthetic treatment in Georgia, a new patient must have a [Good Faith Exam]. This is a medical evaluation confirming you are an appropriate candidate, conducted under physician oversight.
At Infinity Med Spa GA, Dr. Lori Martin, MD serves as Medical Director and oversees patient care alongside founder Bambi Plumlee, MSN, RN, who brings 41 years of nursing experience to every appointment.
This matters more than it sounds. If a practice offers to inject you on a first visit without any medical evaluation, that is information about how that practice operates. Ask the question anywhere you go.
What the assessment covers
Your injector looks at how your face moves, not just how it sits still. Muscle strength varies enormously between people, and two patients with identical lines can need very different approaches.
The assessment covers your medical history, medications and supplements that affect bruising, any previous injectable treatments and how you responded, what specifically bothers you, and what you want to still be able to do with your face.
That last one is the conversation most people skip. Say it plainly. If you want to keep full movement in your brows, say so before anything is injected, not after.
How dosing is decided
There is no standard dose. Units are determined by muscle strength, treatment area, your history, and your stated goal.
Our approach with new patients is conservative. Starting lower and adding at a 2 week follow up is always an option. Removing product that has already been placed is not. For a first neuromodulator appointment, that asymmetry should drive the decision.
If you have been treated elsewhere and felt overdone, bring that up. It changes the plan.
What the appointment feels like
- Check in and history. Medical history, medications, and goals.
- Good Faith Exam. Required in Georgia for new patients.
- Assessment. Your injector watches your face move and marks the plan with you.
- Numbing if needed. Topical anesthetic for filler. Neuromodulator injections generally do not require it.
- Injection. A few minutes. Most people describe brief pinches.
- Aftercare. Written instructions before you leave.
Plan on 45 to 60 minutes for a first visit.
When you will see results
Neuromodulators are gradual. Movement begins softening around day 3, with full effect at roughly day 14. Do not judge your result at day 4.
Hyaluronic acid filler is immediate in volume, but swelling in the first several days will exaggerate it. Wait 2 weeks before deciding how you feel about it.
Collagen stimulating injectables and platelet rich plasma work slowly by design, building over weeks to months.
What to expect afterward, and when to call us
Most people leave with nothing more than mild swelling, tenderness, or a small bruise, all of which settle within a few days. Small bumps at filler sites are normal early on and soften as things relax.
With neuromodulators, a temporarily heavy lid or brow can happen if product settles somewhere it was not intended. Tell us and we will see you.
Call the office right away if you have sudden severe pain, skin that turns pale or white, or any change in your vision after filler. This is rare, and it is exactly why your injector is trained for it and why we keep a reversal agent on hand. Do not wait to see if it passes.
Coming back at 2 weeks
Your follow up is part of treatment, not an upsell. It is where dosing gets adjusted, asymmetry gets corrected, and your next appointment gets planned around how you actually responded rather than how you were expected to.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a Good Faith Exam before injectables in Georgia?
Yes. Georgia requires a Good Faith Exam for new patients before medical aesthetic treatment. It is a medical evaluation under physician oversight confirming you are a safe candidate, and we complete it at your first visit.
How long does a first injectable appointment take?
Plan on 45 to 60 minutes. That includes your medical history, the Good Faith Exam, a facial assessment, and the injections. Follow up appointments run considerably shorter.
How many units will I need?
There is no standard number. Dosing depends on muscle strength, the area treated, your history, and your goal. We start conservatively with new patients because adding later is possible and removing is not.
How long until I see results?
Neuromodulators begin softening movement around day 3 with full effect near day 14. Filler shows volume immediately but swelling exaggerates it for several days. Wait 2 weeks before judging either.
Will I look frozen or unnatural?
That is a dosing and placement question, which is why we start conservative and follow up at 2 weeks. Tell your injector before treatment how much movement you want to keep.
Does it hurt?
Most people describe brief pinches. Topical numbing is used for filler. Neuromodulator injections are quick enough that most patients do not need it.
What should I expect after treatment?
Mild swelling, tenderness, or a small bruise that settles within a few days. Small bumps at filler sites are normal early on. Call the office right away for sudden severe pain, skin that turns pale, or any vision change after filler, which is rare but needs immediate attention.
What should I avoid before my appointment?
Where medically safe, many patients reduce alcohol, fish oil, and certain anti inflammatory supplements for several days to limit bruising. Never stop a prescribed medication without talking to your physician first.
Can I go to work afterward?
Yes. Most people return to normal activity immediately. Some bruising or small bumps may be visible for a few days, so avoid scheduling right before an event.
Should I book anything else the same day?
Often not. Certain treatments need spacing around injectables. Your injector will sequence your plan at the visit.
